Atonement Growth Task Team
Summary of Growth Task Team Meeting, February 15, 2005
Members present; Erik Olson, Tim Blank, Marilyn Nelson,
Pastor Tim, Bev Johnson, Steve Klaers and consultant Shirley Teig.
- Atonement Web Page: Summaries of the Task Team meetings
will be published on our web page, as well as put on the bulletin board
behind the information kiosk. Theses summaries will be electronically
distributed to the members of this team and to the council members. We discussed
taking turn recording and sending these minutes to Nancy to be typed up
and distributed as previously mentioned.
- Mission Minutes: This week’s Mission Minutes will be
presented at the first service by Marilyn, and at the second service by
Tim Blank. Tim will prepare this week’s Mission Minute.
- Growth Gathering: We further discussed this event, which
will be held Sunday the 6th of March in the Fellowship Hall.
The gathering will be immediately following the 11:00 service. There will
be a short luncheon, followed by the meeting, which will conclude at 4pm.
Childcare has been arranged. Everyone is encouraged to spread the word as
much as possible to our fellow Atonians before that date. Shirley put
together a suggested format for the event. After input from the team, she
is revisiting that, and will be emailing an update to all of us for our
review in the next few days. Tim Blank is getting the Fridley demographic
data to Shirley in the mail, and Pastor Tim will also get the 2004 updated
giving and membership info that Ron Anderson prepared through 2003. Pastor
Tim will also select a Bible text for use at the gathering, and will
select three slides of New Brighton demographics for inclusion in the
event packet, delivering both to Shirley by March 3rd or sooner. Pastor
Tim will look into obtaining a clown or other entertainment for the
children during the event.
- Phone Calls: All family units will be contacted by
phone. At least 2 attempts will be made to talk to them in person before
a phone message will be left explaining all of the details. Tim Blank
will divide the directory, and prepare a short script message for
communication purposes.
- Bulletin Inserts: Bev will prepare bulletin inserts and
get them to Nancy every week until the event.
- Additional Logistics: The Fellowship Hall will be set up
with tables and chairs with 6 people at each setting. Each Task Team
member will sit at a different table. The food will be ordered by Pastor
Tim (two - 6’ Sub sandwiches, milk and water). Individual potato chip
bags will be obtained by Marilyn. Steve will bring plates and napkins.
Erik Olson will talk to the confirmands to see about hiring 4 teenagers to
work with the children. The confirmands will be paid $20 each and Erik
will give the names to Pastor Tim who will arrange for payment from the
Mission Advancement fund. Children 6 years old and under will be upstairs
in the King’s Kids area, and those over 6 will be in the lower level.
- Future Task Team meetings will be held in the Fellowship
Hall at Atonement on the following dates: March 3rd, March 22nd,
April 5th, April 19th, May 3rd, May 17th,
and the annual meeting on the 22nd.
