**** Your are invited to make a difference
Join members of our faith communities in a conversation with business leaders,
legislators and city leaders. On Sunday, March 19, 2006, from 1:30 - 4:00
p.m. St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (835 2nd Ave. NW New Brighton)
and ISAIAH, will host a round table discussion on "Mind the Gap":
Reducing Disparities to Improve Regional Competitiveness in the Twin Cities.
This report was generated through the Brookings Institution Metropolitan
Policy Program and the Itasca Project. The Itasca Project is a collaboration
of more than 40 CEO's, mayors and university leaders. As stated in the study;
"The report tracks plainly the disparities that exist in the region.
It also argues that not only is reducing such disparities the right thing
to do, it is also the smart thing to do to protect the continued economic
success of the region."
Myron Orefield, Director of the Institute on Race and Poverty, will be one
of the speakers; along with Frank Forsberg, Vice President, Community Planning
and Investment, Greater Twin Cities United Way, a leader from the Itasca Project
which released the "Mind the Gap" study in the fall of 2005.
Please talk to your ISAIAH core team members if you are interested in going
or want more information.
