"got books?"
You bet we do!
!

A big Thank you to Bethel Students!

With your help, our book drive has been launched with a great success!
This past Sunday (August 28, 2005), five Atonement members teamed up with 44 Bethel students and visited 513 homes right around the church!

Over 40 new students of Bethel University visited Atonement on Sunday August 28th as a part of their school's "Welcome Week" activities.
They assembled packets with church information and small gifts and delivered them to about 500 homes in the neighborhood around the church.

At the same time, they collected books for children as a part of our ongoing "got books?" drive for the Saint Paul Early Language and Literacy program. Program director Kathleen Klumb met with the students and thanked them for their work.

They also alerted neighbors to the disappearance of a young man who lives in New Brighton, showing his picture to them.

Lastly, they received prayer requests from many neighbors which will be prayed for by members of the church.

Each home was given
• information about Atonement and our Vision,
• an invitation to Rally Day
• an invitation to the free seminar “How Not to Be Your Child’s ATM”
• an invitation to the Multicultural Celebration
• and a 9v battery which was delivered to them as a small sign of God’s
love with these words; “He cares about your life. We do too!”

And here’s the report:   They came back with 12 shopping bags full of books
for the drive! Added to the three bags full already given by members of
Atonement, we’ve got 15 bags of books!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who helped with the delivery,
hospitality for the students and the door hangers the week before!
Special thanks go to Helen Campeau who helped to plan and organize the
event.

Lastly – remember that the drive continues through Sunday September 25th
so spread the word and let’s see how much we can do for people in need,
the children and families in Saint Paul who will receive all these books!

Blessings –

Pastor Tim
